  5. A Natural Disaster: A chain of world-shaking earthquakes or devastating storms.
  6. A Mistranslation: The ‘Sundering’ is actually the ‘Sun-Daring’—a broken pact with a solar deity.

Putting It All Together

Now for the fun part! Combine your rolls to create an instant adventure hook that will shock your players. The real prophecy is a combination of one element from each table, but the world is full of red herrings based on the other possibilities!

Here are a few examples:

  • (Rolls: 1 & 3) A fanatical Cult (The Crimson Hand) is performing a ritual they believe will bring salvation, but it’s actually causing a Magical Cataclysm (The Sundering).
  • (Rolls: 10 & 2) A terrifying Disease (The Crimson Hand) is sweeping the land, and the resulting panic and quarantines are leading to a complete Societal Collapse (The Sundering).
  • (Rolls: 6 & 6) The party is hired to escort a diplomat through the Crimson Hand pass to renegotiate a broken contract (The Sundering) with a powerful entity before it unleashes its wrath.

Misheard prophecies are an amazing source of inspiration for any GM. Use these tables as a springboard and watch as your players dive headfirst into uncovering the real truth behind the end of the world!
